About Sarah

Spence headshot.png

I’m Sarah E. Spencer, founder of OnPoint Global Strategies & Coaching, where I support global education and non-profit organizations and individuals through leadership development, professional coaching, and consulting.

With years of higher education experience, I understand the sector's complexities and nuances. As a leader, mentor and professional coach, I help organizations address workplace change, build skills, and improve engagement and retention.

Beyond OnPoint Global, I am proud to be the co-founder of the Global Leadership League and serve on its executive board. My career includes leadership roles at the University of St. Thomas, and I remain active in higher education through speaking and training, after servicing on professional boards and committees, including NAFSA and  the Forum on Education Abroad. I also co-edited the first two editions of NAFSA’s Guide to Successful Short-Term Programs Abroad.

I am a trained coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI). These frameworks guide my approach — helping individuals and organizations explore  mindsets, enhance intercultural capacity, and align passion with action.

The name OnPoint comes from quilting: a block "on point" is turned 45 degrees, creating a new shape and perspective. It represents my commitment to helping teams and leaders see challenges differently—shifting perspective just enough to bring clarity and momentum.

My interests extend to global arts and culture, particularly Korean drama, music and bojagi, a patchwork textile art. As a quilting technique, bojagi reminds me that different pieces can come together to create something purposeful and enduring.
